stiffness, coldness, solitude, but not calm

there’s indignation, aggression but repressed

a subdued anger is floating in the air

structure, order, but dim and diminish throughout the change of lighting

day time and night time from the window view of Kit’s temporary flat

a temporary home he has to pass by

he’s a traveller, always in mobile, he submits to it

always keep a certain distance, from Home, where is the foundation of his frustration and needed to transform or restore in a new city.

He withdraws sentiments from narratives

because it might unveil the violence hidden inside, that he tries so hard to contain it, ignore it, and slough over.

solitude has been written down, “desire can’t be fixed to writing in a book”.

those empty pages, blank spaces are to be filled in with resentment in life.

This is an artist’s book, a selection of Kit’s personal writings, drawings, snapshots, a book pulling things in a winder context, but through a naked eye .

the title of the exhibition is called “resonance of a sad smile”. what does that smile imply?

when I saw the show two days prior to the opening, Kit is still in the final process of fine-tuning the works. I said to him “this is a fierce show, you are angry, but in silence.”

some bleak scent dissolved in the pervasive light of ordinaries

what to reduce and what to increase is like a meditation

banal is good

words don’t cooperate with images

music doesn’t dance with emotions

they are unexplained, indirect. Is he promising a better life? or he is just being sarcastic. 

only if he can register a place to rest

maybe all what Kit has been doing is to find a peace in mind, he hasn’t found it yet, so he continues traveling, planting seeds wherever his works belong to.

And we are the lucky ones. we believe when he said “it won’t get any better.”

冷峻、孤獨,但不安逸

憤慨、衝動,但不壓抑

一種克制的怒停留在空氣中

結構、秩序,隨著光影移動的軌跡逐漸消失

日與夜在李傑住宿的窗櫺上相互交替

一個他短暫停留的家

他是旅人,與停歇簽下了百年不合作契約

與家保持美好的距離是必要,只因家

是承載挫折的基石,需要不斷轉換移栽到下一座新的城市

情感從對話中移除了,深怕一個不小心可能掀開塵封已久又極度抑制的暴力

小心翼翼將孤寂寫下,成為在家的運動

「慾望無法擱淺在書中」

空白的頁面是為填滿生命中的怨懟

這是一本藝術家刊物,集結了李傑的手稿、繪圖、隨影,一本以裸眼觀看藝術家思考寬度的矩尺

展覽的名稱是「一個苦笑的迴響」,這個笑背後隱含的是什麼?

我在開幕兩天前看了展覽,李傑還在進行最後調整

我跟他說:「展覽好兇!」

他說:「噓!這個不能講。」

一股淒涼的氣味從平庸悖離的光線中折射進來

最後的加減是一場修煉與調息

文字不與影像對語

音樂不與情緒為舞

有些話不需要說的太清楚

李傑是在承諾一個更好的未來,還是一種訕笑?

也許一直以來他都在找一個棲身之處,一個可以安心的被窩

他還沒找到,所以不停漂泊,四處撒下任由作品生長的種子

而我們是幸運地一群,因為我們還真的相信當他說「一切再好不過了!」
